Cake
1 c. butter, (2 sticks)
1 c. water
2 c. All-Purpose flour
2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. sour cream
1 tsp. almond extract, (or vanilla extract)
1 tsp. baking soda
Frosting
1/2 c. butter, (1 stick)
1/4 c. milk
4 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/2 tsp. almond extract, (or vanilla extract)
Let's Get Started!
Cake
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 14 x 10 sheet pan.
2. In a medium saucepan, bring butter and water to a boil. In a large bowl, combine flour, and sugar. Whisk in eggs, sour cream, almond extract (or vanilla) and baking soda. Slowly pour in the boiling water/butter mixture. Stir until smooth
3. Pour mixture into a greased sheet pan. Bake at 375 degrees F. for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cake cool for 20 minutes. Make the frosting.
Frosting
1. In a medium bowl, add powdered sugar, set aside.
2. Use a medium sized saucepan, add 1/2 cup butter, almond extract and 1/4 cup milk. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and pour into bowl of powdered sugar/almond extract.
