  • ½ lb. beef sirloin steak cut into ½ inch thick strips

  • 2 T. diced onion

  • 1 ½ c. mushrooms, cut into quarters

  • ¾ c. red wine or beef broth

  • ¼ c. plus 2 T. water, divided

  • ¼ tsp. salt

  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

  • 2 c. uncooked pasta or egg noodles (about 4 oz.)

Step 3: Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until beef is tender, about 1 hour.

Step 4: While beef is cooking, prepare noodles according to package instructions. Drain

Step 5: In a small bowl, mix flour and the remaining water until smooth; stir into beef mixture.

Step 6: Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, about 2 minutes.

Step 7: Serve over your favorite pasta or noodles. Sprinkle with remaining parsley & enjoy!

Jazz It Up!

There are so many ways to jazz up Savory Steak & Mushroom Pasta! Here are some ideas:

Garnishes: add an extra flourish to your meal

  • Grated Parmesan: adds a savory, cheesy element

  • Lemon Zest: a subtle citrus flavor that pairs well with the richness of the pasta

  • Red Pepper Flakes: add a little bit of heat

  • Chopped Chives & Green Onion: offers a mild onion flavor & fresh color

  • Olive Oil: drizzle just before serving

Mushrooms: tiny but mighty, variations offer distinct flavors

  • Cremini: provide a mild & earthy flavor with a firm texture

  • Button: easy available & soak up the delicious flavors of the wine sauce

  • Baby Bella: offer a richer, earthier flavor than the cremini mushrooms

  • Portobello: a hearty & substantial addition, they have a more robust & meaty flavor than the other options (best if sliced)

Pasta Choice: Vary the base to jazz up the texture

  • Egg Noodles: a classic choice with a tender, slightly chewy texture

  • Penne: a slightly firmer texture, provides a tasty contrast to the creamy sauce & sirloin

  • Fettuccine: a flat pasta style, offers a great option for soaking up maximum sauce with each bite

Suggested Sides:

This meal is delicious by itself, but up the flavor with a complementary side dish

  • Warm Garlic Bread or Toast: a classic pasta side

  • Salad: a crisp house or mixed greens salad provides a refreshing contrast to the creamy pasta

  • Wine: serve with a glass of the red included in this dish
