Jazz It Up!

Sides:

  • Mashed Potatoes: creamy mashed potatoes are a classic pairing and soak up the delicious gravy

  • Roasted Vegetables: try carrots, Brussels sprouts, or asparagus. The caramelization from roasting adds depth & their natural sweetness balances the flavors in pork chops in gravy.

  • Steamed Green Beans: simple & delicious, steamed green beans provide a crisp, fresh contrast to the richness of the pork and gravy.

  • Rice or Quinoa: fluffy rice or nutty quinoa serve as excellent bases for the pork chops in gravy. They absorb the flavors and add texture to the meal.

  • Side Salad: a light, refreshing salad with vinaigrette dressing can act as a palate cleanser, providing a contrast to the richness of the pork dish.

  • Braised Cabbage: cooked with a touch of butter or broth, braised cabbage offers a sweet & slightly earthy flavor that pairs well with the savory pork chops in gravy.

  • Cornbread or Biscuits: these baked goods are fantastic for soaking up extra gravy & adding a delightful texture to the meal.

Storing Pork Chops & Gravy Baby

Storing:

  • Refrigeration: allow the pork chops to cool to room temperature. Store them in an airtight container or wrap them tightly in foil or plastic wrap. The gravy can be stored separately in a sealed container. Place both in the refrigerator.

  • Freezing: place the cooled pork chops in an airtight container or freezer-safe bag. If freezing with gravy, ensure it's in a freezer-safe container. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before reheating.

Reheating:

  • Oven: preheat your oven to around 350°F (175°C). Place the pork chops in an oven-safe dish and cover with foil to prevent drying. Reheat for about 10-15 minutes or until heated through. Add a splash of broth or water to prevent dryness, especially if there's no gravy.

  • Stovetop: reheat the gravy gently in a saucepan over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking or burning. Reheat the pork chops in a skillet with a bit of oil or butter, ensuring they heat evenly on both sides.

  • Microwave: a quicker option. Place the pork chops on a microwave-safe dish, cover with a damp paper towel to retain moisture, and heat on medium power in 30-second intervals until they're warmed through. Reheat the gravy in a microwave-safe container, stirring periodically.

*Remember to always check the internal temperature of the pork (it should reach 145°F or 63°C) to ensure it's thoroughly reheated. Additionally, add a bit of extra liquid (broth or water) if needed to maintain moisture, especially when reheating in the oven or microwave.
