Hamburger Delight Simple Beef Pasta Recipe
Serves: 6 | Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins
Ingredients:
1 lb. ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 tsp. dried thyme
¾ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. black pepper
½ c. water
14 oz. beef broth, divided
8 oz. penne pasta noodles
2 T. flour
½ c. sour cream
1 T. dried parsley for garnish
Let's Get Started!
Step 1: Cook ground beef over medium heat, breaking it up with a wooden spoon until no longer pink.
Step 2: Stir in chopped onion, thyme, salt, and pepper, for about 5 minutes until onions have softened.
Step 3: In a separate pot, bring water, 1 ½ cup beef broth, and penne pasta to a boil. Cook pasta stirring occasionally until tender, 8 to 10 minutes.
Step 4: In a small bowl, whisk the flour with the remaining ¼ cup of broth until smooth, and stir into the hamburger mixture. Add in the cooked penne pasta and sour cream to the hamburger mixture, then simmer, stirring often until the sauce is thickened. Garnish with parsley.
Jazz It Up!
There's so many ways to jazz up this beef pasta recipe with more ingredients! Here are some additional ingredient options:
Vegetables: When you add in the onion, try adding in a little garlic, diced peppers, zucchini or even some spinach for some greens.
Garnishes: Parsley's my favorite for this recipe, but basil, cilantro or chives would also taste great.
Cheese: Grate some parmesan or cheddar over the top for a cheesy twist
Flour: If you're gluten free, simply swap wheat flour for your favorite replacement.
Pasta: Instead of penne, try rotini pasta.
Suggested Sides
Garlic Bread: a warm, buttery classic side to pasta dishes (bonus points if you serve with bruschetta)
Bruschetta: vibrant tomato basil bruschetta goes well with both pasta and garlic bread
Salad: a crisp garden, Caesar, or mixed greens salad provides a refreshing contrast
Vegetables: sautéed or steamed broccoli, asparagus, or green beans adds heathy color
