Add two cups of your favorite veggies or meats:
Veggies to Try
Spinach: Fresh spinach or even thawed and drained frozen spinach adds a subtle earthy flavor and vibrant green color to the quiche.
Broccoli: Steamed or blanched broccoli florets provide a nice crunch and a slightly sweet taste.
Mushrooms: Sautéed mushrooms bring an umami-rich flavor and a meaty texture to the quiche.
Bell Peppers: Colorful bell peppers, whether diced or thinly sliced, add a sweet and slightly crunchy element to the quiche.
Zucchini: Thinly sliced or grated zucchini adds a mild flavor and a pleasant texture to the quiche.
Meats to Try
Sausage: Cooked and crumbled sausage, whether it's breakfast sausage or a spicier variety like chorizo, can add depth and a robust flavor to the quiche.
Chicken: Cooked and diced chicken, especially if it's seasoned or grilled, can be a lighter option compared to some other meats. It pairs well with a variety of vegetables and cheeses.
Turkey: Similar to chicken, cooked and diced turkey can be a leaner option. It adds a mild taste and works well with a variety of flavor profiles.
How to Meal Prep This Quiche
1. Prepare Ingredients in Advance: Chop the bacon, dice the tomatoes, onions, and any additional vegetables or meats you plan to add. Shred the cheeses and store each ingredient separately in airtight containers in the fridge.
2. Mix the Egg Mixture: In a bowl, combine the eggs, heavy whipping cream, salt, and pepper. This mixture can be prepared in advance and stored in the refrigerator until you're ready to assemble the quiche.
3. Sautee Veggies Ahead of Time: Onions and tomatoes can be sautéed in advance and stored in the fridge. When it's time to make the quiche, simply reheat them in a skillet before adding them to the egg mixture.
4. Assemble and Bake: When you're ready to bake, combine the prepped ingredients—sauteed veggies, cooked bacon, cheeses, and egg mixture—in a greased pan as per the recipe instructions. Then bake the quiche as directed.
5. Store and Reheat: Once baked, allow the quiche to cool completely. Cut it into individual portions and store them in airtight containers in the fridge. These portions can be easily reheated in the microwave or oven
