Creamy Shrimp Salad Recipe

Servings: 6 | Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 5 mins | Total Time: 25 mins

Ingredients:

Shrimp Salad

  •  1 pounds cooked shrimp, 30/40 count, peeled and deveined

  • ¼ c. red onion, finely chopped

  • ½ c. seedless cucumber, chopped small

  • ½ c. stalks celery, chopped, small (about 2 celery stalks)

Dressing

  • ½ c. mayonnaise

  • ¼ c. sour cream

  • 2 T. lemon juice + zest from 1 lemon

  • 1T. fresh dill, chopped

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp. Old Bay seasoning

  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 T. sugar

  • salt/pepper, to taste

Let's Get Started!

Shrimp Salad

  1. Prepare the shrimp: Boil a large pot of water then add shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes.

  2. Drain shrimp then add to an ice bath to stop them from cooking. Let shrimp cool in the ice bath for 1 minute, then drain and pat dry with a paper towel.

  3. Peel and devein the shrimp.  Then rough chop the shrimp leaving some whole or in big pieces.  Add in red onions and celery.

Dressing

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, lemon juice, zest, dill, garlic powder, Old Bay Worchester sauce, sugar, salt and pepper.

  2. Pour mayonnaise mixture over the shrimp and stir to combine.

  3. Serve cold.

  • Spice it Up: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or diced jalapeños for a spicy kick.

  • Herb Variation: Substitute fresh dill with cilantro or parsley for a different herb flavor.

  • Citrus Twist: Replace lemon juice with lime juice for a tangy alternative.

  • Crunch Factor: Add chopped bell peppers or radishes for additional crunch and color.
