Cajun Fries Recipe

Ingredients:

Cajun Seasoning

  • 1 tsp. garlic powder

  • 1 tsp. onion powder

  • 1 tsp. paprika

  • 1/4 tsp. Cajun seasoning

  • Salt/pepper to taste

Fries

  • 2 1/2 c. cold water

  • 2 pounds russet potatoes, washed, peeled, sliced into 1/4-inch fries

  • 4 c. peanut oil or canola oil for frying

Cajun Seasoning

Step 1: In a medium bowl, mix garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper.

Step 2: Set aside

Step 1: Submerge sliced potatoes in the water and soak for 30 minutes or longer. Remove potatoes   from water, pat dry thoroughly.

Step 2: Combine potatoes, and oil in a large Dutch oven.  Cook over high heat until oil has reached a rolling boil, about 5 minutes.  Continue to cook, without stirring, until potatoes begin to firm, about 10 minutes.

Step 3: Using tongs, gently stir potatoes and continue to cook until golden and crisp, about 5 to 7 minutes longer.  Using a skimmer or slotted spoon, transfer fries to a paper towel line baking sheet. 

Step 4: Season with Cajun seasoning and serve immediately.
